Abstract Title: The Food Safety Skills Programme curriculum in South Africa: Ideological transmissions unpacked.
Biography: Ntokozo is a multidisciplinary professional involved occupationally and academically with issues of curriculum, and environmental studies across levels of education. His research interests and engagements are on, 1) vocational education and training focusing on skills development, 2) Higher education studies focusing on climate change issues and the responsiveness of universities especially through their curricula, and 3) Environmental restoration and the teaching of environmental impact assessment. Recently, he has been overseeing the development of a food safety complier skills programme, which is part of initiatives to address food and beverages manufacturing sector-based food safety concerns in South Africa. He has authored and presented various articles and conference papers on Higher Education curriculum decolonization, environmental impact assessment, NQF systems and ecosystem restoration. He holds qualifications in Agricultural Management, Vocational education and training, environmental management, business administration and higher education studies. He recently handed in a PhD thesis with the University of the Western Cape where he scholarly scrutinized the responsiveness of undergraduate environmental science curriculum to various forms of knowledge given the climate change-related issues. Currently, Ntokozo is a senior manager for Quality Assurance at the Food & Beverages manufacturing SETA in Rivonia, Johannesburg.
